The Incumbent will be responsible for-
Job Purpose -
The Head of Business Development Renewable IPP will be responsible for driving growth of the renewable Independent Power Producer (IPP) business through project origination, strategic partnerships, bid management, and commercial closure. This role will lead end-to-end development of utility-scale and C&I solar opportunities, including land aggregation, PPA tie-ups, regulatory alignment, and financial structuring.
Role Accountabilities-
Business Development & Strategy-
1. Develop and execute the companys growth strategy for Renewable IPP portfolio (utility-scale & C&I projects)
2. Identify new market opportunities across state and central tenders, open access, and captive segments
3. Build long-term pipeline aligned with capacity addition targets
Project Origination & Deal Structuring-
1. Lead identification and acquisition of solar project opportunities including land, transmission access, and permits
2. Structure commercial models: PPA, BOOT, captive/ group captive, and third-party sale
3. Drive commercial negotiations with DISCOMs, corporates, and private offtakers
Tendering & Bid Management-
1. Lead participation in SECI, NTPC, state tenders, and other RfPs
2. Manage bid strategy, tariff discovery, risk assessment, and financial modelling inputs
3. Coordinate with internal technical and finance teams for bid submission
Stakeholder & Relationship Management-
1. Build and maintain strong relationships with:
2. Government authorities, DISCOMs, nodal agencies
3. Land partners, consultants, and investors
4. Represent the organization in external forums and industry discussions
Regulatory & Market Intelligence-
1. Track policy developments, regulatory frameworks, and competitive landscape
2. Identify risks and opportunities arising from policy changes in solar, hybrid, and storage segments
Financial & Commercial Leadership-
1. Lead project commercialization, including PPA closure and financial closure support
2. Work closely with finance team on project viability, IRR optimization, and risk mitigation
3. Support investor discussions and funding strategies
Cross-functional Coordination-
1. Collaborate with engineering, project execution, and legal teams for seamless project transition
2. Ensure alignment between development pipeline and execution capability
Team Leadership-
1. Build and lead a high-performing business development team
2. Set KPIs, monitor performance, and mentor team members
