We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to take end-to-end accountability for our entire data infrastructure, from field collection till reporting. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain data systems that are not only efficient and scalable but also user friendly for field operators, usually farmers.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring our data collection pipelines are robust, aligned with our goals of transparency and compliance in the carbon credits market. This is a high-autonomy role at a growing climate-tech where youll be the most senior person on data infrastructure, making architectural decisions with real consequences. We are building AI-products on top of this infrastructure and expect you to be AI native, someone who already uses LLMs and copilots as part of their daily workflow.

- Implement data governance practices to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance
- Design and develop scalable data pipelines to collect and process data from various sources including apps, APIs, forms, IoT devices
- Develop and maintain datasets for training, validation, and testing of machine learning models.
- Collaboration with Operations, Product and Business Teams:
- Work with operations team, clients and farmers to build a user-friendly data collection and reporting system.
- Work with product team for automated machine data collection and translation into usable form. Data analysis will guide new product development.
- Work with business teams to communicate complex data processes in an understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders.
- Develop deep familiarity with the carbon credits market, digital MRV systems, and industrial data collection methods.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies in data engineering and sustainability and apply them to enhance our systems.
Desirable skills and experience
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related field, with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science or related discipline
- Proven experience in designing and managing end-to-end data systems, data pipeline development and data integration from diverse sources, preferably in a startup environment.
- You default to AI-assisted workflows using LLMs, copilots, and generative AI tools to accelerate development, debugging, documentation and data exploration.
- Experience with MRV systems and knowledge of the carbon credits market is preferred
- Experience with industrial data collection systems and IoT devices is preferred.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (with libraries like Pandas, NumPy), SQL, and familiarity with data pipeline tools.
- Familiarity with big data processing tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop).
- Strong understanding of database systems (both SQL and NoSQL) and data warehousing solutions.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform), especially related to data services.
