Department: Environment, Health & Safety

Deputy Manager EHS (Environment, Health & Safety)

Industry: Pharmaceutical API Manufacturing

Salary:- 10 LPA
Location: Ankleshwar
Department: Environment, Health & Safety

Reporting To: Plant Head / Head ? EHS

Role Purpose

To lead and manage Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) operations at the API manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, environmental standards, and pharmaceutical industry safety requirements, while promoting a strong safety culture across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

EHS Strategy & Implementation

  • Implement and maintain EHS management systems in compliance with statutory regulations and company policies.
    • Develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures across plant operations.
    • Ensure integration of EHS practices into production, maintenance, and engineering activities.

Statutory & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Factories Act, Pollution Control Board regulations, hazardous waste rules, and other statutory requirements.
    • Liaise with government authorities and regulatory bodies for inspections, audits, and compliance submissions.
    • Maintain records related to safety permits, environmental monitoring, and statutory reporting.

Risk Management & Incident Investigation

  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, HAZOP studies, and job safety analysis.
    • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
    • Ensure implementation of permit-to-work systems and safe work practices.

Environmental Management

  • Oversee operations of Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), hazardous waste handling, and emission monitoring.
    • Ensure proper management of chemical storage, solvent handling, and waste disposal.
    • Monitor environmental parameters and maintain compliance with environmental norms.

Training & Safety Culture

  • Conduct EHS training and safety awareness programs for employees and contractors.
    • Promote behavior-based safety initiatives and continuous improvement in safety culture.
    • Organize emergency response drills, fire safety training, and disaster management plans.

Audits & Reporting

  • Conduct internal safety audits and inspections.
    • Prepare EHS performance reports, safety KPIs, and management review presentations.
    • Support customer audits, regulatory audits, and certification audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s Degree in Environmental Science / Chemical Engineering / Industrial Safety / Occupational Health & Safety.
    • Diploma in Industrial Safety / NEBOSH / IOSH certification preferred.

Experience

  • 10?20 years of experience in EHS within API, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing industry.
    • Experience in GMP-compliant manufacturing plants.
    • Hands-on experience in safety audits, environmental compliance, and regulatory inspections.

Key Skills

  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and pharmaceutical industry safety standards.
    • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
