The Role
Infrastructure Specialists at Kyndryl are project-based subject matter experts in all things infrastructure good at providing analysis, documenting and diagraming work for hand-off, offering timely solutions, and generally figuring it out. This is a hands-on role where your feel for the interaction between a system and its environment will be invaluable to every one of your clients.
There are two halves to this role: First, contributing to current projects where you analyze problems and tech issues, offer solutions, and test, modify, automate, and integrate systems. And second, long-range strategic planning of IT infrastructure and operational execution. This role isn t specific to any one platform, so you ll need a good feel for all of them. Required Technical and Professional Experience
- Sound hands on experience 7+ years as a Batch Job Scheduler (aka Production Control Analyst) skills working in Mainframe environments.
- Lead and manage mainframe batch scheduling operations, ensuring timely and accurate execution of jobs across multiple environments.
- Design, develop, and maintain job schedules, workflows, and dependencies using enterprise scheduling tools such as TWS/OPC, A-AUTO, A-SPOOL.
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to gather scheduling requirements and translate them into executable job flows.
- Perform JCL analysis and modifications based on application team inputs, ensuring compatibility and operational efficiency.
- Monitor job execution, analyze job logs, and proactively address failures or delays to maintain SLA compliance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve job abends, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Manage packet migrations using Endevor, ensuring version control and deployment accuracy.
- Implement and maintain job calendars, scheduling rules, and workload automation strategies to optimize batch operations.
- Identify and drive automation opportunities within the scheduling process to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
- Ensure proper documentation of BAU activities, monthly reports, and change records for audit and operational transparency.
- Participate in incident, problem, change, and release management processes in alignment with ITIL best practices.
- Support transition and onboarding of new applications or systems into the batch scheduling ecosystem.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering knowledge sharing and operational excellence.
- Coordinate with global teams, including offshore support, to ensure seamless 24x7 batch operations.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance scheduling performance, reduce failures, and improve turnaround times.
- Understand the Endevor environment, ensuring its stability and efficiency.
- Implement Endevor processes and procedures to support software development and deployment.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate Endevor into their workflows.
- Troubleshoot issues related to Endevor and mainframe systems.
- Provide training and support to team members on Endeavor best practices.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
- Strong knowledge of Mainframe Operations, Batch Scheduling, and Endevor.
- Hands-on experience with scheduling tools like TWS/OPC, A-AUTO, A-SPOOL.
- Proficient in JCL, TSO, ISPF, SDSF, IPL, and mainframe utilities; able to modify JCL as needed.
- Skilled in job monitoring, handling abends, analyzing job logs, and performing root cause analysis.
- Experience in packet migration using Endevor and maintaining job dependencies, calendars, and scheduling rules.
- Ability to identify automation opportunities and maintain accurate documentation for BAU and monthly activities.
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, IT, or related field (mandatory)
