What You ll Do
- Review moderately complex to complex U.S. business tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance for Forms 1120, 1120S, and 1065.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Returns:Review moderately complex to complex U.S. business tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance for Forms 1120, 1120S, and 1065.
- Accounting Expertise:Possess a strong accounting background, including a thorough understanding of financial statements, general ledger reviews, tax-to-book reconciliations, adjustment entries, and bookkeeping-related queries.
- International Filings:Demonstrate knowledge of international compliance requirements, including Forms 5471, 5472, 1042-S, 8865, FBAR, and related filings.
- State & Local Tax (SALT):Exhibit working knowledge of state tax compliance, including franchise tax filings, annual reports, and other recurring state requirements and payments.
- Client Advisory:Proactively advise clients on applicable federal, state, and international compliance requirements, ensuring timely fulfilment of all obligations.
- Client Management:Act as the primary point of contact for clients to gather information, address technical queries, and provide regular updates on ongoing engagements.
- Notice Handling:Independently manage and resolve IRS and state tax notices, guiding clients through compliance and resolution processes.
- Technical Research:Conduct in-depth tax research to support complex tax positions and provide accurate, practical guidance.
- Team Development:Train, mentor, and review the work of junior team members and tax preparers to ensure high-quality deliverables and professional growth.
Skills Required
- Proficiency in tax software such as CCH Axcess and Engagement Binder.
- CPA/EA qualification preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in U.S. taxation.
- Strong foundation in accounting principles.
- Demonstrated logical and analytical thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
