Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Manager Business Development (Mining) to drive business growth in the coal mining sector. The ideal candidate should have 8 to 15 years of experience in Coal Mining, Open Cast Mining, Mine Developer & Operator (MDO) projects, and Overburden (OB) Removal. The role will be responsible for identifying business opportunities, participating in tenders, managing the bid process, and developing strategic relationships with government organizations, PSUs, and private mining companies across India.
The position is based in Chennai and requires regular travel to project locations and client offices across India.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in Coal Mining, MDO, OB Removal, and Mine Development projects.
- Monitor upcoming tenders from Coal India Limited (CIL), SCCL, NLC India, NTPC, State Mining Corporations, and other government/private organizations.
- Lead the complete tendering and bid management process, including pre-qualification, techno-commercial evaluation, bid preparation, pricing strategy, and submission.
- Coordinate with technical, finance, legal, contracts, and operations teams for preparing competitive bids.
- Develop business strategies to expand the company's mining portfolio and achieve annual business targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, government agencies, and strategic partners.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, client presentations, negotiations, and commercial discussions.
- Conduct market intelligence, competitor analysis, and feasibility studies for new mining opportunities.
- Evaluate project risks, commercial viability, and profitability before bid submission.
- Support contract finalization, project mobilization, and smooth transition to execution teams after project award.
- Prepare periodic business development reports, opportunity pipelines, and MIS for senior management.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or any relevant discipline. MBA will be an added advantage.
- 815 years of experience in Business Development within the Coal Mining, MDO, OB Removal, or Mining Infrastructure sector.
- Strong exposure to Open Cast Mining Projects.
- Proven experience in handling large-value mining tenders and bids.
- Good understanding of mining contracts, commercial terms, tender documentation, and statutory requirements.
- Excellent knowledge of government procurement processes, GeM, CPP Portal, and e-procurement platforms.
- Strong commercial acumen and contract negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India.
