Title
Electronics Commodity Buyer Electronics Components (Lighting / BLDC Fans)

Role summary: End-to-end sourcing owner for electronic components

(LED drivers, SMPS, MCUs, MOSFETs, PCBAs, passives) for lighting and BLDC fan products focused on Material Planning, supplier development, import sourcing, contract management, stakeholder alignment and cost /quality / lead-time delivery, Should be costing.

Experience

Minimum 5+ years procurement/sourcing experience in electronics components for lighting, fans, appliances or consumer electronics. Experience in Orient, Dixon, Philips, Jaguar Lighting, Havells or similar is a strong plus.

Key responsibilities

  • Own sourcing strategy and execution for electronic components used in lighting and BLDC fan products (LED drivers & drivers ICs, SMPS modules, microcontrollers, MOSFETs, diodes, capacitors, inductors, connectors, sensors, PCB/PCBA).
  • Full procurement lifecycle: RFQ, technical-commercial evaluation, supplier qualification, negotiation, contract drafting & execution (frame agreements, annual contracts, NDA, quality agreements), PO creation and follow-up.
  • Hands-on management of import suppliers (China/Taiwan/Southeast Asia): vendor identification, qualification, supplier visits, shipping/logistics coordination, customs clearance liaison, duties & compliance.
  • Contract management: prepare, review and manage supplier contracts, SLAs, price validity clauses, penalty clauses, warranty & return policies, confidentiality and IP protection clauses.
  • Cross-functional stakeholder management: work closely with R&D/NPI, Engineering, Quality, Production, Demand Planning and Finance to align on BOM changes, component specifications, sample evaluations, lead-times and payment terms.
  • Support NPI: source samples, manage BOM alternatives, ensure component lifecycle planning (EOL mitigation) and DFM/DFMEA inputs.
  • Drive cost down and value engineering initiatives: alternative sourcing, BOM rationalization, vendor consolidation/dual sourcing, volume-based pricing and TCO analysis.
  • Supplier performance management: implement vendor scorecards (on-time delivery, PPM, lead-time adherence, commercial compliance), conduct audits and corrective action plans (CAPA).
  • Risk management: monitor market trends (semiconductor shortages, lead time spikes), maintain risk register, create mitigation plans (safety stock, alternate vendors, forward buys).
  • Inventory collaboration: set reorder points / safety stock levels with Demand Planning and MRP team to balance OTIF vs. inventory carrying cost.
  • Compliance & documentation: ensure suppliers meet required certifications (RoHS, REACH, BIS, CE), maintain traceability and inspection/test reports, support regulatory audits.

Must-have qualifications & experience

  • Minimum 5+ years direct procurement/sourcing experience in electronics components for lighting, fans (BLDC) or closely related product categories.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience managing import suppliers (sourcing from China/Taiwan/Vietnam) including logistics, incoterms, customs, and import documentation.
  • Proven experience in contract drafting, negotiation and management of supplier agreements, SLAs and commercial terms.
  • Experience working with or in companies like Orient, Dixon, Philips, Jaguar Lighting, Havells, Bajaj, Crompton, Usha, Atomberg, Syska is strongly preferred.

Technical & functional skills

  • Strong knowledge of electronic components and assemblies: LED drivers (topologies), SMPS, MCUs, MOSFETs, ICs, passives, inductors, PCB/PCBA processes.
  • Comfortable reading basic electrical specifications, BOMs and supplier datasheets; able to coordinate technical supplier evaluations with engineering.
  • Familiar with Incoterms, LCs, documentary credits, advance payment, bank guarantees, import duties and customs processes.
