Purpose/Objective
The SBU Head û Finance Control & Legal will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and governance support to the Business Unit.
The role will oversee financial planning, budgeting, controllership, compliance, treasury coordination, taxation, legal affairs, contract management, risk management, and statutory governance while driving business profitability and operational excellence.
The incumbent will partner with business leadership to ensure financial discipline, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and sustainable growth of the SBU.
Key Responsibilities of Role

- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Support decision-making through financial analysis, scenario planning, and business insights.
- Monitor business performance against budgets and strategic plans.
- Drive profitability improvement initiatives and cost optimization programs.
Financial Planning & Control - Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range business planning exercises.
- Establish robust financial controls, policies, and governance frameworks.
- Monitor project profitability, cash flows, and working capital requirements.
- Review monthly financial reports, MIS, variance analysis, and management dashboards.
- Ensure adherence to organizational accounting standards and internal control systems.
Accounting & Controllership - Oversee financial accounting, book closure, reconciliations, and audits.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial statements.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives within finance operations.
- Strengthen financial governance and compliance mechanisms.
Taxation & Regulatory Compliance - Ensure compliance with Direct Tax, Indirect Tax, GST, Income Tax, and other statutory regulations.
- Manage tax planning strategies while maintaining full compliance.
- Address assessments, audits, notices, and litigation matters related to taxation.
- Monitor changes in regulatory frameworks impacting the business.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management - Monitor liquidity planning and working capital utilization.
- Manage project cash flows, banking relationships, and financing requirements.
- Support fund-raising initiatives and debt management activities.
- Optimize capital deployment and cash utilization across projects.
Legal & Contract Management - Lead the legal function for the SBU covering contracts, agreements, disputes, and litigation.
- Review and negotiate commercial agreements, JV agreements, development agreements, vendor contracts, and customer documents.
- Ensure legal compliance across all business operations and projects.
- Coordinate with external legal counsels and authorities on litigation and dispute resolutions.
- Monitor contract risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Risk Management & Governance - Identify financial, operational, contractual, and regulatory risks.
- Develop risk mitigation frameworks and monitor their effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards and internal policies.
- Support Board, Audit Committee, and leadership reviews as required.
Team Leadership - Build and mentor high-performing finance and legal teams.
- Drive a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Develop succession planning and capability-building initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory - Chartered Accountant (CA) Preferred - LLB / LLM - MBA (Finance) - Company Secretary (CS) Desired Experience - 18û25 years of post-qualification experience in Finance, Controllership, Treasury, Taxation, and Legal functions.
- Significant exposure to Real Estate, Infrastructure, Construction, Manufacturing, or Large Project-Based Organizations.
- Experience in managing large-scale business units with substantial revenue and project portfolios.
- Strong understanding of financial governance, legal contracts, compliance, and statutory requirements.
- Proven experience in stakeholder management and leadership roles.
