We are seeking a skilled MS SQL Database Administrator to support our critical database infrastructure. In this role, you will manage, monitor, and optimize both on-premise SQL Server and Azure cloud environments. You will ensure high availability, data security, and compliance with strict financial industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Environment Monitoring: Maintain continuous oversight of on-premise SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines utilizing Datadog and Azure alerts.
- Data Protection: Execute and verify daily database backups, restoration testing, and recovery processes to guarantee strict adherence to financial data retention policies.
- High Availability & Patching: Troubleshoot, maintain, and patch High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) server environments to ensure zero business disruption.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor database health and optimize cloud infrastructure costs using Query Store and performance tuning methodologies.
- Access & Security Management: Administer Active Directory, Azure security protocols, and user access controls to meet stringent financial compliance standards.
- Incident & Root Cause Analysis: Own the resolution of production incidents, manage SQL Agent jobs, and conduct thorough root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
- Automation & Migrations: Build PowerShell scripts and Azure Automation workflows to streamline routine DBA tasks and support seamless database migrations to the cloud.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: database administration experience in production support environments.
- Core Databases: Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (20162022) and Azure SQL Databases.
- High Availability: Hands-on experience patching and troubleshooting AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances.
- Monitoring Tools: Proficiency with Datadog, SQL Server Agent, and Azure Monitor Alerts.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Solid understanding of Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines and Azure security access controls.
- Performance Tuning: Skilled in using Query Store, Execution Plans, and DMVs to optimize queries.
- Automation: Practical experience writing PowerShell scripts and Azure Automation runbooks for routine tasks.
- Financial Compliance: Familiarity with strict data retention, auditing, and security protocols in banking environments.
