Fire Safety Officer
Fire Safety & Emergency Preparedness
- Act as the designated Fire Safety Officer for the hospital as per statutory and hospital policy requirements.
- Ensure development, implementation, and periodic review of the Hospital Fire Safety Plan.
- Coordinate preparation and updating of Fire & Emergency Management Policies and Procedures in line with NABH and local fire safety norms.
- Ensure availability, maintenance, and periodic inspection of fire safety equipment including fire extinguishers, alarms, hydrants, and emergency exits.
Training, Drills & Awareness
- Plan and conduct fire safety training programmes for all employees, including clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Organise and monitor periodic fire mock drills in coordination with Engineering, Safety, and Operations teams.
- Ensure documentation and evaluation of drill outcomes and implementation of corrective actions.
Compliance, Audits & Liaison
- Ensure compliance with statutory fire safety regulations, NABH safety standards, and hospital safety policies.
- Coordinate with local Fire Department / Safety Authorities for inspections, approvals, and compliance reporting.
- Support internal audits, NABH audits, and statutory inspections related to fire and life safety.
- Maintain records of fire safety inspections, drills, training, and approvals.
Incident Management & Risk Control
- Lead response coordination during fire or emergency situations.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for fire-related incidents or near-miss events.
- Recommend and monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions related to fire and life safety risks.
Interdepartmental Coordination
- Work closely with Engineering, Administration, Security, Nursing, and Clinical Departments to ensure hospital-wide fire preparedness.
- Ensure integration of fire safety measures with overall Quality, Patient Safety, and Risk Management programmes.
Authority & Accountability
- Report fire safety compliance status periodically to Hospital Management
- Execute all fire safety responsibilities with high ethical, professional, and legal accountability.
