Job Purpose L3 Infrastructure & Platform Engineer responsible for design, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise infrastructure platforms including VMware virtualization, Disaster Recovery (DR), Red Hat OpenShift (RHOCP), Kubernetes clusters, and underlying hardware Key Result Areas/Accountabilities. VMware & Virtualization (L3) Architect, deploy, and manage VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter) environments. Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and HA/DRS optimization. Troubleshoot complex issues related to CPU, memory, storage, networking, and VM performance. Manage VM lifecycle, templates, snapshots, and patching. Integrate VMware with backup, monitoring, and DR solutions. 2. Disaster Recovery (DR) & Business Continuity Design and implement DR architecture (ActivePassive / ActiveûActive). Configure and manage VMware SRM / storage replication / backup-based DR. Define RPO/RTO, conduct DR drills, and document results. Perform failover and failback operations during planned/unplanned events. Ensure compliance with enterprise BCP policies. 3. Red Hat OpenShift (RHOCP) & Kubernetes Design, install, and manage Red Hat OpenShift (on-prem / cloud / hybrid). Deploy and maintain production-grade Kubernetes clusters. Configure cluster networking (CNI), ingress, routes, services, and storage. Manage etcd, control plane, worker nodes, and cluster upgrades. Troubleshoot complex issues related to pods, nodes, networking, storage, and performance. Implement RBAC, security policies, SCCs, quotas, and namespaces. Support CI/CD integration and application onboarding teams. 4. Hardware & Bare-Metal Configuration for K8s Plan and configure bare-metal servers for Kubernetes/OpenShift clusters. Perform BIOS, firmware, RAID, NIC bonding, and storage configuration. Validate hardware compatibility for Kubernetes & OpenShift. Coordinate rack & stack, cabling, and datacenter readiness. Optimize hardware for high availability and performance. 5. Storage & Networking Integrate Kubernetes/OpenShift with SAN/NAS/CSI-based storage. Configure persistent volumes, storage classes, and backups. Work with VLANs, bonding, load balancers, firewalls, and DNS. Ensure secure and resilient cluster networking. 6. Security & Compliance Implement platform-level security best practices. Manage certificates, secrets, authentication (LDAP/AD/OAuth). Apply patching, vulnerability remediation, and audit controls. Ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards. 7. Operations & Incident Management Act as L3 escalation point for critical infrastructure and platform incidents. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and preventive actions. Create and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and architecture documentation. Mentor L1/L2 teams and provide technical guidance. Perform SAN/NAS provisioning, replication, and storage performance tuning. Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience 8 - 12+ years of infrastructure/platform engineering experience 5+ years in VMware and enterprise virtualization 3+ years in Kubernetes / OpenShift production environments Experience handling large-scale, mission-critical systems Telecom domain knowledge is an added advantage Must have technical / professional qualifications BE, B.Tech in Computer Science or IT or relevant field Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift CKA / CKAD / CKS VMware VCP / VCAP RHCE
