Role & responsibilities
- Lead the preparation, review, negotiation, and administration of EPC, EPCIC, service, procurement, and subcontract agreements.
- Develop contract strategies that support project objectives and commercial goals.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and applicable Nigerian laws and regulations.
- Review tender documents, evaluate commercial risks, and provide recommendations before contract award.
- Coordinate pre-award and post-award contract activities.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor performance against contractual requirements.
- Manage contract changes, variations, extension of time (EOT), and claims.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual and commercial risks.
- Prepare contractual correspondence with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Maintain contract registers, documentation, and reporting systems.
- Work closely with Legal, Procurement, Finance, Project Controls, and Engineering teams to resolve contractual issues.
- Support dispute avoidance and dispute resolution through negotiation and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, and corporate governance requirements.
- Provide commercial advice to project management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and implement contract management procedures, templates, and best practices.
- Mentor and supervise Contracts Engineers and Contracts Administrators.
- Prepare periodic commercial and contract performance reports for management.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor's degree Engineering, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
- 1015 years of experience in contract management within the Oil & Gas or EPC/EPCIC industry
- Proven experience managing high-value contracts for upstream, midstream, or downstream projects.
- Strong background in contract negotiation, commercial management, claims, and dispute resolution.
