Ph.D. Scholar Cell & Module Manufacturing (Renewable Energy Solar)[from IIT Mumbai/ Delhi]
Position: Ph.D. Research Scholar
Department: Solar Cell & Module Manufacturing / Renewable Energy Research
Location: Indore
Role Overview
The Ph.D. Scholar will conduct advanced research in the field of solar photovoltaic (PV) cell and module manufacturing , with a focus on improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing reliability of solar technologies. The role involves experimental and theoretical research, development of novel manufacturing techniques, collaboration with industry partners, and contribution to academic publications and patents in the renewable energy domain.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research & Development
    • Carry out in-depth research on solar cell materials, processes, and module integration .
    • Explore new technologies such as PERC, TOP Con, HJT, tandem cells, perovskites, and bifacial modules .
    • Study degradation mechanisms, reliability factors, and lifetime enhancement techniques in modules.
    • Conduct simulations, material characterizations, and experimental validations.
2. Process Innovation & Optimization
    • Investigate advanced manufacturing processes for wafering, cell fabrication, metallization, encapsulation, and lamination.
    • Develop scalable methods to improve cell efficiency, yield, and production sustainability .
    • Propose solutions for cost reduction, energy efficiency, and circular economy in manufacturing.
3. Lab & Experimental Work
    • Design and conduct experiments in PV labs, pilot lines, and cleanroom environments .
    • Utilize advanced tools such as SEM, TEM, XRD, Raman, PL/EL imaging, IV characterization, and reliability testing systems .
    • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data for research publications and patents.
4. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
    • Work closely with faculty, post-docs, industry collaborators, and international research groups.
    • Publish high-impact research papers in reputed journals and conferences.
    • Contribute to patent filing and technology transfer initiatives in solar manufacturing.
Key Skills & Competencies
    • Strong foundation in semiconductor physics, materials science, and renewable energy technologies .
    • Hands-on expertise in solar PV characterization techniques and material analysis.
    • Knowledge of cell and module fabrication processes (silicon, thin-film, emerging PV).
    • Strong analytical skills with ability to design and interpret experiments.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication for publications and presentations.
Qualifications & Eligibility
    • Strong academic record with demonstrated interest in solar PV and renewable energy research .
    • Previous research experience (thesis/projects) in PV cells/modules is desirable.
