As a senior report developer for the data services team, responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, documenting, implementing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions. This role requires strong analytical skills to support the development and execution of the solution. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand and analyze business needs, allowing you to gather requirements and design solutions that enable data-driven decision-making within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive reports and dashboards that provide meaningful insights to users.
- Create visually appealing and informative charts, graphs, and visualizations to convey data insights effectively ensuring a user-friendly and easy to navigate design.
- Create and maintain data models and data sets within Power BI, optimizing data relationships and calculations for efficient reporting and analysis.
- Integrate Power BI reports and dashboards with other data sources and systems, such as but not limited to databases, CRM software, and cloud platforms.
- Understand and convert business requirements into technical specifications that meet or exceed users needs by assessing reporting needs; provides recommendations for enhanced solutions to match needs to Reporting tools and capabilities.
- Review and analyze data insights to provide guidance to stakeholders and decision makers.
- Strong verbal and written communication between data services team members and other team members is necessary.
- Understand your assignments and tasks and clearly communicate any concerns or issues in a timely manner.
- A level of understanding and self-management for independent tasks and the ability to work with a team at times.
- Document processes
- Use and knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) used in Power BI reports.
- Ability to write standard SQL queries.
- Follows a Development, Test, and Production process to deploy Power BI Dashboard and continuously improve testing practices and techniques. Communicates test results and status updates to project stakeholders and leadership as necessary.
- Participates in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, and potential problems.
- Participates in agile events such as stand-ups, refinement and sprints using acceptance criteria and definitions as a guide when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience as a business analyst developing Power BI Dashboards
- Experience with data visualization and reporting in Power BI
- Experience of Power BI features, data modeling, DAX language, and Power Query, Microsoft Fabric, ETL
- Proficiency in requirements gathering, business process modeling, and documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate business requirements into actionable insights and technical specifications.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences; proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding data modeling, data schemas (normalized, flat, star, snowflake, etc.)
- Experience with data governance, data security, and compliance regulations
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks
- Ability to learn new technologies and tools quickly
- A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Microsoft Certifications are a plus
- Knowledge of agile methodologies are a plus
