About the Role:
We are looking for a Mid-Level Frontend Engineer with a strong focus on performance optimization. Our primary users are teachers and students in government schools who often access our platform on low-end Android devices with limited processing power and unreliable internet connectivity. In this environment, every megabyte of bundle size and every millisecond of performance directly impacts the user experience.
Your primary responsibility will be to optimize and enhance our existing frontend codebase by improving load times, reducing bundle size, ensuring smooth rendering, and delivering a reliable experience even on slow networks and resource-constrained devices. Alongside performance optimization, you will also build and deliver new features with high standards of quality, maintainability, and user experience.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality web and mobile applications using React JS and React Native .
- Build responsive, accessible, and intuitive user interfaces that deliver a consistent and seamless user experience across platforms.
- Develop clean, efficient, and user-centric interfaces based on product requirements and user behavior.
- Optimize application performance by improving startup time, rendering speed, memory usage, network efficiency, and bundle size.
- Ensure reliable application performance on low-end Android devices and in low-bandwidth environments by implementing caching, offline-first strategies, and performance best practices.
- Integrate and consume RESTful APIs with efficient pagination, caching, loading states, and robust error handling.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Backend, and QA teams to deliver scalable, high-quality features.
- Troubleshoot and resolve frontend issues using tools such as React DevTools, Chrome DevTools, Flipper, and browser profiling utilities.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to frontend architecture, coding standards, best practices, and continuous process improvements.
- Support production deployments for both web and mobile applications, including website releases, Google Play Store, and Apple App Store submissions, ensuring smooth rollouts and timely issue resolution.
- Monitor application performance, user feedback, and analytics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Stay up to date with emerging frontend technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices while contributing to a strong engineering culture.
Required Skills Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 3 5 years of professional experience in frontend development.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) , TypeScript , HTML5 , CSS3 , and modern frontend development practices.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining applications using React JS and React Native .
- Strong understanding of React fundamentals, including component-based architecture, hooks, state management, rendering lifecycle, memoization, list virtualization, and frontend performance optimization techniques.
- Experience building responsive, cross-platform applications that deliver a consistent user experience across web and mobile platforms.
- Ability to translate user needs and product requirements into intuitive, accessible, and user-focused interfaces.
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs, managing asynchronous operations, and implementing efficient loading, caching, pagination, offline capabilities, and error-handling mechanisms.
- Proven ability to diagnose and optimize frontend performance, including startup time, rendering performance, memory consumption, network requests, and application bundle size.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using React DevTools, Chrome DevTools, Flipper, browser profiling tools, network inspectors, and related debugging utilities.
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows, including branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills, particularly in production environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience deploying and maintaining React JS applications in production environments.
- Hands-on experience managing Google Play Store and Apple App Store release processes, including versioning, signing, staged rollouts, and production deployments.
- Familiarity with website deployment pipelines, CI/CD workflows, hosting platforms, CDN configuration, and frontend performance optimization.
- Experience building applications for users on low-end Android devices or in environments with limited internet connectivity.
- Knowledge of offline-first application architecture, local storage mechanisms, synchronization strategies, and data persistence.
- Experience with application monitoring, crash reporting, and analytics tools such as Firebase Crashlytics, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG), multilingual user interfaces, and localization best practices.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Prior experience in EdTech , social impact, NGO, or public-sector technology products will be an added advantage.
