Job Summary
Plays a crucial role in creating synergy between the Assistant Buyers, Buying Managers, Pricing Team, Supply Chain, Trade Planning, Retail, and DC team in the market to align Buying strategies with broader business objectives. Ensure the team is well-equipped to assist Buyers in maximizing business profitability by improving margins, timely recovering funds from suppliers, minimizing waste, and enhancing product availability to drive sales. You will be accountable for: Lead initiatives to improve the efficiency of Buying processes, including the use of new technologies and systems Stay ahead of market trends and drive innovative solutions that enhance the competitiveness of the product portfolio Evaluate the financial impact of buying decisions, aiming for margin improvement and cost savings Implement strategies to reduce waste at both the store and distribution center (DC) levels by optimizing stock management, minimizing overstocking, and improving product turnover Review Supplier Performance and recommend solutions to the commercial team in the market to align with contractual obligations and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or service Analyze sales data and market trends to ensure products meet customer demand and optimize the product mix Monitor and report on waste reduction metrics, ensuring alignment with the companys sustainability goals and driving continuous improvement in waste management Implement strict processes to ensure the timely and accurate recovery of all promotional funds, retros, and financial agreements with suppliers Ensure the Range Event Critical Paths and Promotional Critical Paths are adhered by the Assistant Buyers Enhance team skills to align with the business purpose and lead projects that deliver significant value for the organization Represent the TBS Buying team in the Trade Planning and Promotional cycles events discussions and strategy meetings Manage the performance of a team of Assistant Buyers who directly work with the Buyers in the market Advocating our Code of Business Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence Key people and teams I work with in and outside of Tesco: People, budgets and other resources I am accountable for Sustaining the culture of continuous improvement with the team in my job Achieving team objectives, partner management and issue management Developing and leading a high performing team, crafting an environment for success by setting direction and mentoring them to succeed Buying Categories Direct reportees (c.18-24) Suppliers Indirect reportees Leading, maintaining, reviewing, and improving the SLAs, critical metrics and other Business and Customer Metrics in line with the Big Supply chain Distribution teams Headcount and Team welfare Budgets 6 and other business strategies Retail Support and Operations teams Aligning self and team to the Tesco Business plans and strategies for Odessy 26 and beyond Product Finance teams Recovery of funds from the Suppliers Partnering with the Market to drive category strategy by collaborating and leveraging on the skills within TBS Brand Marketing teams Waste in the Categories Having a seat at the table by solving business problems for Buyers, Merchandisers and Product Transformation team and building Business Transformation teams Promotional Critical Path trusted partnership with Stakeholders People Operations Range Critical Path Cross functional collaboration within and across TBS to create a value stream network driving efficiency end to end Directors and Heads of Functions Product Transformation Operational skills relevant for this job Experience relevant for this job
