Air Suspension - Lead Engineer Role Summary:Own end-to-end delivery of the air suspension system/components across the product development lifecyclefrom concept and requirements definition through detailed design, validation, and launch support. Lead technical decision making, integration with adjacent systems, supplier technical delivery, and ensure quality, cost, weight, and timing targets are met.
Key Responsibilities: - System / module ownership: define architecture, targets, and requirement cascade; maintain requirement traceability.
- Lead design strategy and integration across vehicle interfaces (packaging, kinematics, NVH, E/E where applicable).
- Drive DFMEA, DVPR, and design reviews; ensure robust design releases and change control.
- Lead virtual and physical validation strategy and correlation (durability, environment, corrosion, abuse).
- Supplier technical leadership: RFQ support, technical specification, design reviews, issue closure, APQP/PPAP readiness.
- Program execution: manage risks, maturity, and gateways; lead root cause analysis (8D) and implement countermeasures.
- Team handling: mentor and guide engineers; plan/assign work packages; ensure delivery to plan.
- B.E./B.Tech/M.E. in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering (or equivalent).
- 610 years relevant automotive product development experience (passenger car chassis/driveline).
- Strong understanding of system interfaces, manufacturing feasibility, and design release processes.
- Experience leading suppliers and cross-functional teams; ability to operate autonomously.
- CAD: CATIA V5/V6
- CAE: ANSYS
- Pre/Post: HyperMesh and/or ANSA
- PLM: Teamcenter / ENOVIA (or equivalent)
- Quality Delivery: DFMEA, DVPR, 8D/5-Why
- Hybrid/HEV vehicle exposure (good to have)
- Experience working in a structured product development environment (PDP / APQP / PPAP)
- Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder management
- Structured problem-solving mindset (8D/5-Why) and data-driven decision making
- Ownership, attention to detail, and delivery discipline
- Ability to work with global suppliers and multi-site teams
