Your role and responsibilities
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM MQ environments across z/OS and distributed platforms
Administer and manage queue managers, queues, channels, listeners, clustering, and security configurations
Provide support for CICS environments, including basic troubleshooting, region monitoring, transaction analysis, and coordination with application teams
Develop and support integration solutions using MQ and CICS across enterprise applications
Work with MQ and CICS to support ISV products, including OMEGAMON customization and monitoring enhancements
Monitor MQ and CICS infrastructure health, performance, and availability using enterprise monitoring tools
Troubleshoot MQ-related issues such as channel failures, queue buildup, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks
Perform CICS transaction analysis and debugging, including handling abends and system issues
Implement capacity planning, tuning, and optimization for MQ and CICS environments
Implement and manage MQ security including SSL/TLS, CHLAUTH rules, OAM, and certificate management
Perform CICS region configuration and optimization to ensure efficiency and high availability
Collaborate with application, middleware, infrastructure, and support teams to ensure seamless messaging and transaction processing
Support production deployments, migrations, and maintenance activities
Ensure high availability, resilience, and disaster recovery readiness of MQ and CICS systems
Create and maintain operational documentation, standards, and procedures
Ensure compliance with organizational security, audit, and operational policies

Required technical and professional expertise
4?10 years experience in IBM MQ and CICS administration/support
Strong hands-on experience with IBM MQ on z/OS and/or distributed platforms
Solid understanding of MQ architecture, including queue managers, channels, clustering, and publish/subscribe
Experience in MQ installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades
Strong expertise in MQ troubleshooting and performance tuning
Knowledge of MQ security: SSL/TLS, certificate management, CHLAUTH, and OAM
Working knowledge of CICS concepts, including region operations, transactions, and basic system administration
Experience with CICS monitoring and troubleshooting (transaction failures, dumps, performance issues)
Familiarity with z/OS environment (JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF)
Experience in scripting/automation (REXX, Shell, Python, or Perl)
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON, Tivoli, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or similar
Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and failover mechanisms
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred technical and professional experience
Experience with IBM MQ on z/OS environments (advanced administration)
Exposure to CICS system programming or advanced administration activities
Knowledge of WebSphere Application Server (WAS), Kafka, or other integration/messaging platforms
Experience with DevOps tools and automation (Jenkins, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines)
Familiarity with Zowe CLI, modern mainframe tooling, or automation frameworks
Exposure to cloud platforms and containerized MQ deployments (OpenShift, Kubernetes)
Knowledge of RACF and mainframe security frameworks
Experience with REST APIs, MQ client connectivity, and hybrid integration patterns
Understanding of z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition and API enablement
Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming integrations
IBM MQ and/or CICS certifications are an added advantage
Experience in banking, financial services, or large enterprise environments
Ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to solution design and architecture discussions
