Role & responsibilities Key Result Areas/Accountabilities Supporting Actions Planning Planning the activities related to Environment Permission, Sustainability Projects/Target and compliance as applicable to the greenfield project. Operational Excellence Supervising the utilities section for Generation and supply of budgeted plant water, soft water, de-mineralised water for consumption at the plant. Development of Green Belt Sewage treatment and discharge as per specifications the operation of the STP Implementation and maintenance of ZLD Segregation of Hazardous and Non Hazardous Wastes and disposal to approved agencies Maintenance of Stack limits and monitoring of all emission sources and ambient parameters Budgetary Controls Reducing expenses incurred on Environmental Performance by innovative projects Decreasing expenses incurred on purchase of water by measuring output, input and leakage of water through water meter and recycling the same to reduce water consumption. Ensuring recycling of cooling tower water Promotion material and energy conservation Compliance Obtaining EC/CTE/CTO/HWA/BMWA permissions Compliance of statutory requirements and its effective implementation as per government and regulations body maintained the legal records as applicable. Monitor the current revision of applicable legal laws. Monitoring legal compliance related to PCBs (CTE/CTO renewal, Haz waste report submission Etc) Evaluation & monitoring of consent conditions of plant (Analysis of drinking water, ETP water, work place monitoring, Soil Sample, Noise level monitoring, Lux level monitoring, Stack Monitoring, sludge analysis, ventilation study, Ambient air monitoring). Mapping and tracking of environment compliances. Hazardous waste management, disposal coordination. Ensuring online Submission of Environment Statement of plant. Internal & external environment audit compliance Make budget proposals for environment compliances. Implementing Corporate EHS programs and audits. Implementing robust Environment Management Systems like ISO 14001 Implementing kaizens. Customer-centricity Facilitating monthly process audit by independent agency for process optimization, change of equipment and resolution of cross functional operational problem related to pollution control. Liaising with Central Ground Water Authority Board to obtain contracted water for the plant and the colony Networking with other industries within the GIDC to forge common solutions for operational issues. Liaising with Central Pollution control Board, New Delhi and its regional office at Baroda as well as the Gujarat Pollution Control Board offices at Gandhinagar and Vadodara to restrict operational roadblocks Providing operational departments with specifications for Capex for additional equipment. Sustainability and Process Improvement Ensuring data collection, compilation and management in software as per corporate requirement of all key functions ie, environment, wash pledge and occupational health. Conducting monthly meeting with all functional managers Analysis of data and deduction of specific sustainability parameters such as energy, water, solid waste, Green House Gas emissions and sending monthly report to corporate Partnering creation and maintenance of Green Belt Organize campaigns, competitions, contests and other activities to develop and improve employee morale. Prepares daily, weekly and monthly activity and other reports as directed. People development and engagement Ensuring environmental training for operations team and engineers Ensuring regular inhouse training on air, water, environment laws and pollution control devices. Educate employees on safe working practices & Environmental concerns to inculcate safe attitude and update on environmental issues. To guide shop floor for designing the environmental solutions to comply with legal requirements. Imparting system awareness trainings to line management
