Job Summary
The Telecom Repair Engineer is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing telecom equipment, network devices, and electronic communication hardware. The role involves fault analysis, component-level repair, quality checks, and coordination with technical and service teams to ensure timely repair and restoration of telecom products/equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair telecom equipment, networking devices, and communication hardware.
- Perform troubleshooting of PCB, motherboard, power section, RF section, and related telecom hardware faults.
- Carry out component-level / chip-level repair of telecom boards and equipment.
- Test faulty units, identify root causes, and perform corrective repair actions.
- Repair and replace defective components such as ICs, connectors, capacitors, resistors, MOSFETs, relays, and other electronic parts.
- Use repair tools such as multimeter, soldering station, hot air gun, DC power supply, oscilloscope, and other testing tools.
- Read and understand circuit diagrams, technical manuals, and repair SOPs.
- Conduct quality testing of repaired units before final closure.
- Maintain repair records, service logs, and job completion reports in ERP/MIS systems.
- Coordinate with spare parts, planning, and warehouse teams for parts requirement.
- Support root cause analysis for repeated failures and suggest corrective actions.
- Follow ESD, quality, and safety procedures during repair operations.
- Ensure repair productivity, quality standards, and turnaround time targets are achieved.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Electronics, ECE, Telecom, Electrical, or related field.
- 2-9 years of experience in telecom equipment repair, electronics repair, or service operations.
- Experience in networking / telecom / communication device repair preferred.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of telecom equipment, networking hardware, and electronic circuit troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience in PCB / chip-level / component-level repair.
- Ability to use repair and testing tools effectively.
- Understanding of RF / telecom / power sections will be an advantage.
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of MS Excel / ERP / service reporting systems.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in telecom service center, repair center, network hardware repair, BTS equipment, routers, switches, modems, ONT/OLT, or similar products.
- Exposure to field return analysis / failure analysis / RMA process.
