As an Analyst within the Ratings Research & Development (R&D) team, you will sit at the heart of S&P s research group. Your mission is to bridge the gap between complex financial research and scalable data solutions. You will be responsible for supporting S&P Ratings by designing and implementing Python-based automation to transform how we source, process, and analyze data across Sustainability (ESG), Private Markets, and Global Credit.

    • Processing & Optimization: Develop robust scripts to clean, normalize, and process unstructured datasets into structured formats ready for credit analysis.
    • Tool Development: Create and update internal Python tools and SQL databases to streamline the "Ratings Research" workflow, reducing manual data entry and increasing analytical bandwidth.

2. Domain-Specific Research Support

    • Sustainability & ESG: Support analysts in evaluating physical and transition risks by automating the extraction of key metrics from CSRD/TCFD reports and CDP filings, sustainability reports or internal databases.
    • Private Markets: Develop methodologies to capture and analyze opaque data points within private credit and equity, providing transparency in traditionally underserved sectors.
    • Credit Strategy: Contribute to thematic reports and "thought leadership" by providing quantitative evidence and data-driven insights on bond market trends and corporate rating actions.

Requirements

    • Master s degree with some financial report writing skills, with background in either sustainability, credit research or private markets.
    • Mid-level Python proficiency (Pandas, NumPy) and SQL. Experience with Databricks is an advantage.
    • Conversant in Excel for financial report writing and bond market tracking.
    • Ability to synthesize technical data into clear, "publication-ready" English for a global audience
    • Experience in handling conference calls and maintaining sound communication with onshore clients
    • Knowledge of databases such as Bloomberg, S&P Cap IQ (added advantage)
    • Ability to take ownership and execute tasks independently
    • Positive attitude with qualities of a team player
    • Open to new ideas and initiatives
