Manager / Senior Manager Vigilance & Investigations


Job Purpose


To conduct and manage vigilance investigations related to employee misconduct, fraud, corruption, policy violations, ethical breaches, and whistleblower complaints. The role will support the organization's commitment to maintaining a strong ethical culture, safeguarding assets, minimizing fraud risks, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Vigilance Investigations

  • Conduct vigilance investigations pertaining to employee misconduct, fraud, corruption, policy violations, unethical practices, and disciplinary matters.
  • Examine complaints received through internal channels, whistleblower mechanisms, employee grievances, and other vigilance sources.
  • Plan and execute investigations by gathering evidence, reviewing documents and records, conducting interviews, and analyzing relevant information.
  • Prepare comprehensive investigation reports highlighting findings, root causes, risk implications, and recommendations.

Fraud Risk Management

  • Identify fraud risks, control weaknesses, and operational vulnerabilities across business functions.
  • Recommend corrective and preventive measures to mitigate future occurrences of fraud, misconduct, and policy breaches.
  • Support fraud risk assessments and contribute to the development of preventive vigilance frameworks and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Analyze fraud patterns and emerging threats to strengthen organizational vigilance controls.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Collaborate with Business, HR, Legal, Compliance, Audit, Risk Management, and Operations teams during investigations.
  • Monitor implementation of disciplinary actions, corrective measures, and management recommendations arising from vigilance cases.
  • Coordinate with external agencies, law enforcement authorities, forensic experts, and regulatory bodies whenever required.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure investigations are conducted fairly, independently, confidentially, and in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development and periodic review of vigilance policies, SOPs, investigation frameworks, and governance standards.
  • Assist in conducting employee awareness programs on ethics, fraud prevention, whistleblower mechanisms, and vigilance practices.
  • Maintain investigation records, evidence files, and case documentation in a secure and compliant manner.

Desired Candidate Profile -


Educational Qualification

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in any discipline.
  • Professional qualifications/certifications in Law, Compliance, Risk Management, Fraud Management, Forensic Investigation, or Banking will be preferred.

Experience

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in:
    • Vigilance and investigations
    • Fraud risk management
    • Employee misconduct investigations
    • Disciplinary proceedings
    • Ethics and compliance functions within a Bank, NBFC, Financial Services organization, or regulated institution

Functional Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Banking operations and processes
    • Lending and credit operations
    • Fraud typologies and red flags
    • Internal control frameworks
    • Regulatory and compliance requirements
    • Employee conduct and disciplinary procedures

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong investigative and analytical skills.
  • Experience in conducting interviews and evidence collection.
  • Knowledge of forensic review techniques and investigative methodologies.
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
  • Ability to handle sensitive investigations independently and objectively.

Preferred Experience

  • Handling employee fraud, misconduct, and integrity-related investigations.
  • Conducting vigilance reviews of branches, regional offices, and business units.
  • Managing whistleblower complaints and ethics-related matters.
  • Coordinating with Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit, Risk, and HR teams.
  • Liaising with law enforcement agencies and regulatory authorities.
  • Preparing investigation reports and presentations for Senior Management, Vigilance Committees, and Disciplinary Committees.
