Role Title : Head Network Express Business


Role Purpose : The Head of Network, Pan India, will be responsible for the strategic planning, optimization, designing, and management of the entire domestic logistics and distribution network. This leadership role ensures that products are delivered on time, to the correct location, in the required quality, and in the most cost-effective way, while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency across the country. This strategic leadership role ensures that the logistics infrastructureincluding transportation routes, distribution centers, and warehousingis aligned with business goals.


Key Accountability Area


Strategic Network Planning: Develop and implement a long-term logistics strategy to optimize the pan-India network, including the optimal location of hubs, transshipment centers, warehouses, and branch offices.

Transportation Management: Oversee all aspects of transportation, including mode selection (road, air), carrier negotiation, route optimization, and shipment tracking to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Warehouse and Hub Operations: Manage the efficient operation of all warehouses, sorting centers, and distribution hubs, focusing on space utilization, order picking, inventory accuracy, and overall productivity.

Cost Control and Budgeting: Develop and manage the network budget, control expenses (including fuel and overheads), negotiate competitive rates with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and vendors, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Process Optimization: Continuously assess existing operations to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement, implementing best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) across the organization to streamline performance.

Technology Integration: Champion the adoption and integration of technology solutions such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), IoT for real-time tracking, and data analytics to enhance visibility and decision-making.

Team Leadership and Development: Lead, manage, and mentor a large, cross-functional team across various locations, fostering a high-performing and collaborative work environment. This includes working with HR for talent acquisition and skill development programs.

Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all network operations comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Identify and mitigate potential risks, such as supply chain disruptions, transportation delays, or security issues.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise effectively with internal departments (Sales, Procurement, Finance, IT) and external partners (suppliers, carriers, government agencies) to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of logistics strategies with overall business goals.

Performance Monitoring: Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, costs per shipment, fill rates, and customer satisfaction levels to assess performance and drive improvements.



Work Experience


Extensive (10+ years) experience in network development with at least 3 years in a national leadership role.

Proven experience in managing pan-India operations within an express distribution or e-commerce logistics environment

Demonstrable experience in strategic planning, network design, and managing large, diverse teams across multiple locations.

Strong track record of achieving cost savings and improving operational efficiency.


Technical / Functional Competencies:


Supply Chain & Logistics Expertise

  • End-to-end logistics operations: inbound/outbound transportation, warehousing, distribution.
