Frontend Engineer
We are hiring a frontend engineer to work on our web and connected TV applications. The
work spans building new features and maintaining the existing app, with a focus on
performance. You will work with product, design, and backend engineers.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and maintain frontend applications using React and/or SolidJS.
- Write UI components that are reusable and easy for others to maintain.
- Integrate REST APIs and asynchronous data sources.
- Debug and fix frontend bugs.
- Profile and improve rendering, memory use, and startup time.
- Review teammates' code and take part in architecture discussions.
What we're looking for
Hands-on experience with:
- React or SolidJS
- TypeScript
- JavaScript (ES6+)
- Node.js
A working understanding of:
- Data structures and algorithms
- Asynchronous programming
- API integration and state management
- Component-driven architecture
- Common frontend design patterns
- Cross-browser behaviour and responsive layoutNice to have
- LightningJS, or another rendering framework aimed at constrained hardware
- HTML5 Canvas, WebGL, or GPU-accelerated rendering
- Development for Smart TVs, set-top boxes, Android TV, Fire TV, Tizen, or webOS
- Video streaming, including HLS, MPEG-DASH, adaptive bitrate streaming, and DRM
systems like Widevine and PlayReady
- Rendering pipelines, texture management, and animation performance
- Optimisation for low-memory or otherwise limited devices
- Good Knowledge of Web Assembly, Service Workers, or Web Workers
- Browser internals, including paint and layout performance
- Video player integration and streaming analytics
