About LIC of India
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is the country largest and oldest insurance company, wholly owned by the Government of India. Established in 1956, LIC manages assets worth over INR 50 lakh crore and serves over 290 million policyholders across India.
Our Story
LIC was formed on September 1, 1956 by nationalizing and merging 245 private insurance companies. Since then, LIC has been instrumental in spreading life insurance across India, particularly in rural areas.
