Job description
The Senior Piping Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Piping discipline within McDermott
They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Piping discipline
The Senior Piping Engineer solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services
The Senior Piping Engineer impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Piping team and other related teams and ensures that they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelors Degree or Master s degree in Mechanical Engineering
8-15 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultants predominantly performing detail design
Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society
Flexible for Business Travelling

Detailed knowledge of Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design Phases of Projects
Detailed knowledge and experience of design techniques and application of standards, codes, and guidelines
Familiar with all Piping Sub-Disciplines including Design and Modelling, Pipe Stress Support, Piping Material Engineering, and MTO activities and deliverables
Knowledgeable in project coordination and execution skills
Conversant with international codes and standards like ANSI, ASME, API, BS, NFPA, etc
Familiar with SP3D / E3D / Navisworks
Familiar with stick-built and modularization approach
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Perform conceptual, FEED, or detailed design analysis and develop them as per project Scope of Work, design basis, project documentation, design codes and standards, and McDermott procedures within the planned schedule and budget
Direct Engineering team as a Lead Engineer on small projects
Apply skills and knowledge of the business, take a new perspective on existing solutions to address problems and non-standard situations, and report them to the Lead Piping Engineer at an early stage
Prepare detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures
Manage own time to meet agreed deadlines and budgets and develop plans for short-term work activities in own area
communicate and explain complex issues and work to establish understanding
Ensure interfaces and deliverables are identified
Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve products or services
Focus on health and safety policies and procedures
Become fully familiar with the project Scope of Work, Specification, Schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements
Interface with other departments to obtain input for engineering and design
Interface with High-Value Centers (HVECs) ensuring a clear understanding of their Scope of Work
Support 3D-Model review at 30%, 60% 90% progress
Identifying changes to scope and promptly raising a notification
Alert the team of any deviation from the Scope of work or a need for a change order
Prepare design philosophies, specifications, pipe supports, standard detail drawings, MTO, and material requisitions by the project scope of work and contract
Explain difficult or sensitive information; works to build understanding
Fully familiar with PID, Line List, Equipment List, Layout, Piping Specifications, and design basis
Work independently, with minimal guidance when required
Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience
