Job description
We are seeking a skilled data scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate should have experience working with large data sets, using statistical and machine learning techniques to extract insights and build predictive models. The candidate should be able to work independently and have excellent communication and presentation skills. Your primary goal will be to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of the aircraft fleet through proactive monitoring and maintenance practices driven by data-driven insights. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, IT professionals, technicians, and other stakeholders, to establish and execute the program.
Role & responsibilities
Work closely with stakeholders to understand business problems and requirements.
Analyze large data sets and identify patterns and trends.
Develop models related to aircraft health monitoring, predictive maintenance, performance monitoring, MMEL/CDL items analytics, SOPs monitoring, weights and balance with the objective of optimizing TAT, fuel consumption, maintenance cost, supply chain cost
Develop predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques.
Conduct hypothesis testing and experimentation to validate models.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement models and monitor their performance.
Lead a team of data scientists, engineers, analysts, and technicians.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment to drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the data science team and cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred candidate profile
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
10+ years of experience overall, and 5+ years as a Data Scientist
Experience in leading teams of data scientists and ML engineers.
Expertise in complete data science pipeline, including problem identification, data acquisition, exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, modelling, generation of insights and visualizations, monitoring, and maintenance.
Strong computer vision, deep learning and GenAI experience.
Aviation experience related to aircraft development / maintenance (FMS, flight operations, flight data analysis, flight science, avionics, flight controls)
Experience related to engine development / maintenance (FADEC, gas turbine performance, manufacturing, engine components, LRUs)
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or R.
Experience with data manipulation and analysis using SQL.
