Job description
As a Credit Manager specializing in underwriting for secured business loans, you will play a critical role in assessing the creditworthiness of potential borrowers and managing risk for the organization
Your primary responsibility will be to evaluate loan applications, particularly those secured by collateral, and make informed decisions based on thorough analysis and adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements
Responsibilities:Loan Application Evaluation: Review loan applications for secured business loans, analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents to assess the creditworthiness of applicants
Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to determine the likelihood of repayment, considering factors such as the applicant's financial stability, industry trends, market conditions, and collateral value
Collateral Valuation: Evaluate collateral offered by borrowers to secure loans, ensuring that it provides adequate security for the loan amount and complies with internal policies and regulatory guidelines
Underwriting Guidelines Adherence: Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, lending policies, and regulatory requirements throughout the underwriting process
Decision Making: Make sound lending decisions based on thorough analysis and risk assessment, balancing the organization's objectives with prudent risk management practices
Communication: Communicate effectively with loan officers, borrowers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information, clarify details, and convey lending decisions
Documentation: Review and verify loan documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards
Portfolio Management: Monitor and manage the performance of the secured loan portfolio, identifying potential risks and taking proactive measures to mitigate losses
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in credit underwriting, and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues in other departments, such as risk management, legal, and compliance, to ensure alignment of underwriting practices with overall organizational objectives and regulatory requirements
